Tai Chi for Beginners

Introducing Qigong & Chen M'an Ching 37 Posture Form

Qigong

Qigong (pronounced chee gong) is a holistic system of self healing exercises and meditation. It is an ancient practice that includes posture, movement, self massage, breathing techniques and meditation.

Qi is the Chinese word for Life Energy. Gong means work or benefits acquired through perseverance and practice. Hence qigong is to work with life energy and control the flow of qi to improve health and balance of mind and body.

This practice is very beneficial to all age groups and physical conditions.

Tai Chi

Tai chi is a way of life that has been practiced by the Chinese for thousands of years.  Tai chi means The Grand Ultimate.  Although tai chi is defined as a martial art, the tai chi form is executed very slowly in comparison to other martial arts.

The nature of tai chi is one of physically co-ordinated exercises in a sequence of flowing controlled movements put together to improve health and vitality.

It is a method for developing health and relaxation and can be a good means for dealing with the stresses and strains of every day life.

All the funds raised from the classes are donated to Rokpa Aberdeen. The donations are placed in a fund which will be used to create the first Residential Healthy Living & Life Management Centre in Aberdeen to serve the needs of communities throughout the North East. It will be the base for outreach work throughout the Grampian Region.
